TILT TABLE TESTING

TILT TABLE TESTING

This simple test involves the placement of an IV, taking frequent blood pressure readings and continuous EKG monitoring, both lying down flat and with the table at 80 degrees (almost standing up). If normal, an IV medication (isuprel) or nitroglycerin are given and the tilt is repeated. This test provides an assessment of the neural reflexes, which when abnormal, may cause patients to faint.
